Frequently Asked Questions

Product & Fabric

What fabric do you use?

Our signature activewear fabric blend is 94.2% cotton and 5.8% spandex. This creates a supportive, breathable and cotton-rich feel with less synthetic fibre sitting against your skin compared to traditional activewear.

Our oversized tees are made from 100% cotton for an ultra-soft everyday feel.

Are your fabrics non-toxic?

Yes, our fabrics are made using OEKO-TEX® certified materials, meaning they have been tested against harmful chemicals, toxic dyes, pesticides and other potentially harmful substances commonly found in clothing manufacturing.

We prioritise safer, more conscious materials with almost all of the fabric sitting against your skin being natural cotton.

Why does EKO Active use less spandex than most brands?

Most activewear brands rely heavily on high percentages of spandex or elastane to create a super stretchy feel.

At EKO Active, we intentionally keep our spandex content low at just 5.8% to reduce the amount of synthetic fibre sitting against the skin while still maintaining support, movement and performance.

This is what gives our fabric its more supportive, structured and premium feel.

Why do the high compression leggings feel tighter than other activewear brands?

Our leggings are designed to be high-compression and supportive, giving you a more sculpted and held-in feel compared to traditional activewear.

Most sustainable activewear brands use 10–20% spandex or elastane, which creates a very stretchy, slippery feel and ultimately means more plastic sitting against your skin. At EKO Active, we intentionally use only 5.8% spandex, meaning almost all of the fabric sitting against your skin is natural cotton.

Because of this, the leggings will feel firmer and more compressive on first wear. This is intentional. After washing and wearing, the cotton softens beautifully and gradually moulds to your body for a second-skin feel while still maintaining shape and support.

Do the leggings soften after washing?

Yes. Because of the high cotton content, the fabric softens beautifully after washing and wearing, gradually moulding to your body for a more comfortable second-skin feel while still maintaining support and shape.

So when you first put them on and think “gee, these feel a bit firm,” that’s completely intentional. The cotton fabric almost has a “memory” and is designed to soften and mould specifically to your body shape over time.

Will the leggings lose shape or stretch out over time?

Our leggings are designed to soften over time while still holding their shape and support. As the cotton is washed and worn, the fabric becomes softer and gradually moulds to your body without sagging, stretching out or losing shape.

Do your leggings ball or pill over time?

No, our premium cotton-rich fabric has been specifically developed to maintain its quality and appearance over time without balling or pilling like many cheaper cotton blends.

We intentionally invested in a high-quality fabric blend that feels soft, breathable and supportive while still looking elevated and long-lasting wear after wear.

Can I wear these in summer?

Absolutely. Cotton will naturally feel much cooler and more breathable to train in during summer compared to traditional plastic-heavy polyester activewear blends.

Our cotton-rich fabrics are designed to feel breathable, soft and comfortable against the skin while still providing support and performance for movement and everyday wear.

Are the leggings squat proof?

Yes, our leggings are squat proof, supportive and designed for movement and everyday wear.

Can I wear EKO Active for workouts and everyday life?

Absolutely. Our pieces are designed to move with you through Pilates, gym sessions, walking, coffee runs, travel and everyday wear.

The goal was to create activewear that feels elevated enough to live in all day without relying on plastic-heavy synthetic fabrics like most traditional activewear brands.

Fit & Sizing

Are your pieces true to size?

Most of our pieces fit true to size. However, our High Compression Leggings are intentionally designed to fit firmer and more compressive than traditional activewear and may feel smaller on first wear. If you are between sizes, we generally recommend sizing up.

Our oversized tees are intentionally designed with a relaxed, oversized fit. If you ever have sizing issues, we are always happy to assist with an exchange or refund to help you find the right fit.

How should I choose my size?

Our High Compression Leggings are designed to fit firmer and more compressive than our Flare Leggings.

XS in the High Compression Leggings fits closer to an AU 4-6. XS in the Flare Leggings fits closer to an AU 6-8.

We recommend taking your usual size in the Flare Leggings. For the High Compression Leggings, size up if you are between sizes, or stay true to size if you prefer an extra-snug, sculpted fit.

Are the leggings high waisted?

No, our leggings are designed with a mid-waist fit rather than an ultra high-waisted fit. However, if this is something our community wants, we are open to exploring higher waistband options in the black colourway down the track.

Do the leggings roll down?

No, the waistband has been specifically designed to stay secure during movement without constantly needing to be pulled up or adjusted.

This is also why the waistband may feel firmer on first wear. It has been intentionally designed to maintain support and stay in place year after year without slipping down, sagging or stretching out.

Do the leggings have pockets?

Our High Compression Leggings feature double side pockets for added functionality and convenience. To keep the Flare Leggings looking more elevated and streamlined, we intentionally opted for no pockets on the flares.

Are the cups removable?

No, the bra cups are sewn in so they stay securely in place and do not move around in the wash. We intentionally designed them this way so you don’t have to constantly readjust or reposition the cups after every wear or wash.

Brand & Sustainability

Is EKO Active sustainable?

Yes, sustainability was one of the core reasons EKO Active was created. We intentionally partnered with a manufacturer that aligns with our values, including safe working conditions, safe machinery, fair treatment of workers and living wages.

We also prioritise cotton-rich fabrics with reduced synthetic fibres, OEKO-TEX® certified materials, small production runs and thoughtful, long-lasting product design.

Why cotton activewear instead of polyester?

Most traditional activewear is made predominantly from synthetic plastic-based fibres like polyester and nylon. At EKO Active, we wanted to create activewear with more natural fibres sitting against the skin, without compromising on performance, support or style.

Where are your garments made?

Our garments are manufactured through a carefully selected production partner that aligns with our values around ethical manufacturing, safe working conditions and fair treatment of workers.

Will you be releasing more colours and styles?

Yes, EKO Active is just getting started. We already have future colours, styles and product developments in the works and will continue evolving based on customer feedback and what our community wants to see more of.

Shipping & Orders

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we offer both Australian and international shipping. Shipping rates and delivery times are calculated at checkout based on your location.

You may also be required to pay import duties, taxes and customs clearance fees upon arrival into your country. These charges are determined by your country’s customs authority and are the responsibility of the customer.

Do you restock sold out sizes?

Some styles may be restocked, while others may remain limited edition depending on demand and production availability.

Because we intentionally produce in smaller batches to avoid unnecessary waste, many styles and sizes may not return once sold out. If you see your size available, we recommend securing it while stock lasts.
